Amazing!

How amazing is that cobweb! I know its kinda gross but at the same time its like art! We noticed this the other day in out front yard and I had to take a picture of it. I have never seen one so big and detailed, it reminded me of Charlotte's web, I was waiting for a message the next day when I went outside! We also have one on the deck of our house, which I really want to get rid of but we feel kinda bad destroying it. It must of been a lot of work for that spider!

This is why Nate and I have been putting on the pounds since we moved here! We decided to check out this local cafe here called Da Kitchen. While it was super tasty, we decided next time we would just get one and share! If you can't tell the one on the left has three more layers underneath of more katsu chicken. The serving size is huge! Time to get a gym membership!

Jacob, we challenge you to eating the Luau plate they serve here, its huge but we think you can do it!

A bitter sweet thanksgiving

It was a bitter sweet Thanksgiving this year! With this being our first Thanksgiving away from family, we had a few episodes of feeling homesick! We were both quite excited to make our own little turkey dinner though. We made all the preparations and with a few tips from my mom we were ready to spend the day in the kitchen making all the yummy treats! We were feeling very ambitious and even made some of my grandma's homemade cinnamon rolls, which are so tasty, as well as a homemade cherry pie! It all turned out quite well, if I do say so myself! And it was so fun to see Nate get so excited to see his pie turn out so well! But as the night came to a close and we called home and could hear all the commotion in the back ground we were wishing we were there sitting in the family room sharing a few laughs with everybody. Although we are very grateful for our friends here in Maui who have made this feel like home there is just nothing that can replace the warmth of your own family! So we are missing you all, and love ya. Can't wait to see ya all real soon!

UNWANTED HOUSE PETS!

Before moving here I was informed by many of the bugs that would probably be living in my house when I arrived. So far I have been very lucky and have only seen one cockroach in the house! But we do have some lovely lizards or geckos that enjoy spending there nights on the walls of our house. We don't mind our guests too much except for the lovely gift they leave behind for us.......there droppings! We are constantly picking up their poop from the floor or whatever else it happens to land on! Nate has caught a few with our plastic container that is now our lizard and just recently mouse catcher that stays outside until we need it for another catch! Now all you lizard lovers out there, don't worry we only go after them when they are in our room. Who wants one of those climbing on ya while you are trying to get some sleep.....not me! And we let them run free as soon as we take them outside so no harm is done!

It's been awhile!

So I'm definitely not very good at keeping up with my posts, as you all know I haven't posted anything since I started this thing! But I am going to try and keep it up from now on....we'll see how it goes! Two weeks ago we decided to spend the weekend in Ka'anapali and spent one night at the Sheraton Hotel. The place was amazing! It had a great swimming pool, which was kinda like the wading pool at Lagoon but didn't have a current. It was nice swimming in some fresh water for a change! But we didn't spend too much time there, with the beach right there we couldn't pass up playing in the waves! There was also a nice cliff that you could jump off. It wasn't terribly high but enough to loose your stomach a little bit while jumping off! I recommend wearing a one piece swimming suit or tank top over your suit! Its a far enough fall that your top definitely comes up as you hit the water! I think I gave some people a show that were close by but I have learned my lesson!
Later that night we saw our first sunset at the beach since we moved here. Since we live upcountry in the mountains we are rarely close to the beach at night to watch the sunset we just see it from the balcony of our house. I don't know why but watching the sunset with the ocean right there makes it that much more amazing. We will have to do that more often!

In the hotel rooms at the Sheraton they provide a

complementary bottle of Champain! Too bad it wasn't sparkling cyder!

The last two pictures were taken on the grounds at the hotel.

OUR FIRST MAUI ADVENTURE!

I seem to have lots of time on my hands since the move so I decided that this would be the perfect time to start a blog! Plus it is a great way to keep in touch with family and friends since we live so far away.

We have been in Maui for about two weeks now, well I have and Nate a bit longer than that, but things are going pretty good. We have decided we want to take advantage of our time here so in our spare time, which is usually Saturday, we are going to see all there is to see here. Then we will know all the great things to do when ya all come visit! Of course our first outing was to the beach. We just spent the day playing in the waves and getting some sun. We both got a bit sunburned, mine was slightly worse but I am sure that doesn't surprise any of you!

Then for our first real adventure we traveled the "Road to Hana." It was an all day outing and we were pretty exhausted when we got back. It is probably more enjoyable as a two day thing but we crammed it into one. The road is only about 38 miles long but it takes two hours to drive through it without any stops because of the twists, turns and one way bridges. It is pure craziness but there is definitely beautiful scenery along the way. We bought this book called Maui Revealed, I know we are total nerds, it had all the less traveled, unknown places that are pretty hard to find. We weren't able to find all of them but the ones we did were amazing. If you like waterfalls, and who doesn't, this is the perfect place.

You all know how Nate loves to drive fast and the crazy canyon didn't seem to stop him. He was testing his skills and trying to make it out in record time! It made for an intense ride home....for me at least and I don't think he broke any records! We came home with some souvenir mesquitoe bites! Nate had about ten and I counted about twenty just on my legs. I even had bug repellent on but I guess not enough. We will remember to put lots of coats on for next time!

We had to hike this narrow muddy path to get to this
waterfall. We were alittle unsure about it when we
started the journey but we were glad we continued on.
This was one of our favorites but too cold to swim in!

Nate throwing out the "shaka!" We all know it as hang loose but to all localHawaiians it called the shaka! Nate loves to throw it out whenever he can!

Look at this sweet Bamboo forest! It was kinda creepy when you walk through. It is so thick that it doesn't let much light in and as the Bamboo hits each other in the wind it makes a weird noise. Wouldn't want to be there alone at night......spooky!

Black sand beach, pretty awesome!

This tree is enormously big, Nate looks quite small next to it!
